Several months ago, I had a dream about our love vs God’s love. In the dream I saw what could be described as a golden, liquid light. It signified God’s pure, undefiled love. It was simply beautiful to gazed upon. The light flowed to a perfect rhythm of his heartbeat; with each thump his love would move in perfect sync. I felt peace and security in its presence. Off to the side of this vision I could see another image forming. It was beautiful and flowed also, but there was something different about this image– the color was yellowish– not golden like the other. It flowed and pulsed with a heartbeat also. There were small particles woven inside the image; it was not pure. I was made to know that this was my love. I was saddened at this revelation. While it wasn’t a bad image, I hoped that it would look more like his. While pondering this, I noticed that God’s love started to move closer and closer to mine. I was concerned that if he got too close, the two loves would be contaminated. Within moments the two loves contacted and began to mingle together. “No!” I shouted. “Don’t touch it– it will contaminate your love!” That didn’t stop him, and they merged anyway. I could initially recognize both loves even in the united image, but gradually the differences continued to fade until the yellowish light of my love was indistinguishable from his own. His pure, golden love was all that remained.
1 John 4:16
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
